Orientation
My interest in finance is grounded in the same mental model as my research: structured analysis under incomplete information, rigorous stress-testing of assumptions, and clear frameworks for decisions where the cost of being wrong is asymmetric.
Project: Capital Allocation Strategies across Domestic and Global Markets
Aug 2024 – Dec 2024
Designed a quantitative decision framework for capital allocation strategies under varying risk appetites.
- Evaluated minimum-risk and Sharpe-optimal portfolios; benchmarked across domestic and global asset classes
- Analyzed risk-return trade-offs, volatility regimes, diversification benefits, and sector concentration
- Constructed and compared portfolio frontiers under different constraint regimes
Areas of Active Interest
Public Markets
Bottom-up equity research, particularly in capital-intensive industries where understanding the underlying physical or operational process provides an analytical edge. The goal is to identify where consensus is structurally wrong, not just different.
Risk & Uncertainty
The methodologies I use in cosmological inference — uncertainty quantification, bias identification, benchmarking across competing models — transfer directly to financial modeling. Most valuation frameworks overstate the precision of their outputs.
Macro Frameworks
Credit cycles, monetary transmission mechanisms, and the interplay between fiscal policy and market structure. Macro as a risk management tool rather than a return driver.
Thesis → Finance Transfer
Tracer bias in data ↔ survivorship bias in market datasets
Void size function robustness ↔ stress-testing assumptions in valuation models
Geometric vs. dynamical void-finders ↔ rules-based vs. model-driven approaches to factor investing
The common thread: what is the underlying signal, and how much does my measurement method distort it?
